In continuation with the previous enhancement, we have released another feature to identify spelling errors in search queries.
Spelling mistakes are natural error that gets aggravated in non-English speaking countries where many users type phonetically similar versions of words. We observed that search query distribution has a very long tail for many orgs.
Around 25% of the searches are contributed by search queries which get keyed in just once a month. Spelling mistakes contribute significantly to these search queries and such queries currently show No search result on the page.
The search functionality now looks for keywords in the defined Search Fields & replaces non-matching search keywords with the closest matching word in the dictionary created out of Search Field data.
To enable this feature, follow these steps.
- Configure synonym feature must be activated. You can activate this feature by raising a ticket to the Sustenance team. It will create a brand-specific dictionary for Search functionality.
- Select the Enable spell correct while searching option using the checkbox.
- Deselect the Display product in search only when all words of user query are found in product information option using the checkbox.
Currently, this partial match functionality gets preference over the Spell correction - something that we intend to reverse soon.
