How do I create my own category (Custom) for my Web store?
To create a custom category, do the following:
- Log in to the 'Anywhere Commerce Control Panel' by using your User Name (Email Address) and Password.
- You will be navigated to the Dashboard page.
- Click the
icon. The Dashboard & Setup section will be displayed as shown in the figure.
- Click Category Management. You will be navigated to the Manage Product Categories page.
- The available Categories will be displayed as shown in the figure.
- You can create a root category or subcategory as per your requirement.
- To create a root category, click
. You will be displayed a new row as shown in the figure.
OR
- You can also add a subcategory. To do so, click the
icon of that category under the Actions column. You will be displayed a new row as shown in the figure.
- To create a new category (i.e. either root category or subcategory), enter the name of that category in the respective text box under the Category column.
- You can also specify a unique reference code for this category in the respective text box under the Ref. Code column.
- Note: If you don't specify the reference code, it will be auto-created by the system.
- To save the category, click anywhere on the screen. The new category will be saved and you will be displayed a relevant success message.
- Now you can specify other information for this category.
- To add the other required information to this category, click the
icon of the category under the Actions column. You will be displayed an Edit Category - Category Name dialog box.
- You can find multiple tabs here namely, Basic Information, SEO Information' and 'Content Information'. By default, the Basic Information tab will be opened.
Adding Basic Information:
- You can edit the name of the Category (if required) by entering the changes in the 'Category Name' text box.
- Enter the 'order of display' of this category in the Category Rank text box.
- Note: This rank can also be used to display the order of category in the 'Refine Search' control.
- You can edit the reference code of the category (if required) by entering the changes in the 'Reference Code' text box.
- To save the changes made in the 'Basic Information' section, click Save. The changes will be saved, the dialog box will be closed and you will be displayed a relevant success message.
- Similarly, you can also edit the SEO Information and Content Information.
Adding SEO Information:
- To edit the SEO Information, click the
icon of the category under the Actions column. You will be displayed an Edit Category - Category Name dialog box.
- By default, the Basic Information Tab will be opened. To view and edit the 'SEO Information', click SEO Information tab. The following section will be displayed.
- The following fields will be used in Search Engine Optimization:
- Enter the title of this Category page in the Page Title text box.
- Enter the Meta tag keywords of your Category in the Meta Keyword text box for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) purpose.
- Enter the Meta tag description about your Category in the Meta Description text box for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) purpose.
- Enter the keywords for your Category URL in the URL Key text box for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) purpose. The same keywords will be inserted in that Category URL and helpful in SEO.
- To save the changes, click Save. The changes will be saved, the dialog box will be closed and you will be displayed a relevant success message.
- Similarly, you can also edit Category Content Information.
Adding Content Information:
- Note: The 'category content' helps you to create a rich user experience by adding additional valuable information to the category and displaying in the ‘Category Page’ and ‘Product Details’ pages through the necessary configurations. This will help the user to understand the 'category' much better.
- To edit the Content Information of this category, click the
icon of the category under the Actions column. Then you will be displayed a Edit Category - Category Name dialog box.
- By default, the Basic Information Tab will be opened. To view and edit the 'content information', click the Content Information tab. The following section will be displayed.
- Enter the title of the 'category content' in the Title text box.
- Enter the descriptive text of the 'category content' in the Body text box.
- To define the image for 'category content', click Add Image button of the Image text box. You will be displayed Image Picker dialog box displaying the images of userimages folder.
- Double-click the required image. The image picker dialog box will be closed and the respective name of the image file will be displayed in the Image text box.
- To save the 'category content' click Save. The changes will be saved, the dialog box will be closed and you will be displayed a relevant success message.
