Products Variants:

  • Variant (also called Variant Property) is a specific feature/property used for classification of a product.
    • For example, the “Size” of a Shirt is a Variant and the Variant Values are 40, 45, 50,100, etc…
  • Different 'Variants' with their 'Variant Values' are grouped to form a ‘Product Variant’.
    • For example, if the SKU of the original product (shirt) is 14678, then, a 'medium-sized' 'green' shirt with a Variant stock-keeping unit (Variant SKU) of 14678mg is one ‘Product Variant’ of that Shirt.
    • In this example, the Variants - Size & Color with the 'Variant Values - Medium & Green are clubbed together to form a Product Variant.
    • You can also create the 'Product Variants' with a single Variant mapped with suitable Variant Value, such as 'Medium Sized shirt' or 'Green Color Shirt'.
    • You can add/edit or delete/deactivate ‘Product Variants’ here.
  • You can create different 'Product Variants' for a base product by assigning different Variant Values and you can maintain unique Variant SKU, Price, Inventory, etc… for 'Products Variants'.
  • You can also create 'Product Variants' while you are creating Products.

Benefits or Best uses of Product Variants:

  • In every business, it's possible to have products with different colors, sizes, styles, guarantee options and other slight differences within the same product.
  • To sell these products by differentiating these differences, you can create the 'Product Variants' by mapping the required Variants with Specific Variant Values.
    • For example, you can differentiate those products as:
      • 'Green/Red/Blue/etc.. color Shirts';
      • '40/45/80/100/etc.. size banyans';
      • 'Plain/Checks/Flourish/etc… designed Garments';
      • '1 yr/2 yr/ 3yr/ etc… guaranteed products and so on.
  • You can manage unique 'inventory', 'price' and 'Variant SKU' for these 'Product Variants'
  • Selling a T-shirt is simple, but providing the right size garment is crucial to your customer through online purchase. It's not as complicated as you think, to cater this requirement, you can create a successful 'Product Variant' in a matter of minutes.
