How do I create a new banner for my Web store?


To create a new banner for your Web store, do the following:

  • Log in to the 'MartJack Control Panel' by using your User Name (Email Address) and Password.

  • You will be navigated to the Dashboard page.

  • Click the  Banner Management icon. The Marketing section will be displayed as shown in the figure.

  • Click Banner Management. You will be navigated to the Manage Banner page as shown in the figure.

  • You can find the previously created banners (if any) under the Available Banners section.
  • To create a new banner, click Create New. You will be navigated to the Add/Edit Banner page.

  • Enter the title of the banner in the Title text box.
  • Enter the reference code of the banner in the Ref.Code text box.
  • Enter the description of the banner in the Banner Description text box.
    • Note: If you want to enter the language sensitive data for your multilingual store, select the required language from the respective drop-down at the 'Page Header section' and uncheck the text box of 'Banner Description' and enter the description in the selected language.
  • Location: Select a suitable location for which the banner is designated from the Location drop-down. So, you can alter the banners by location wise also.
    • Note: All locations for which the This location will work as delivery centre checkbox is selected in the Add/Edit Locations page will be visible here.

  • Sequence: Enter the order of appearance of this banner in the Sequence text box.
    • Note: The sequencing will help in displaying the banners in the desired order when multiple banners are valid simultaneously. For example, when 5 Banners are to be displayed through scrolling on any day, we can define the order of display through this functionality.


Periodicity: Periodicity defines the validity of the banner - i.e. the time duration for displaying the banner. You have the following options - Daily, Weekly, and Month.

  • 1. Daily: Select this option when the banner is valid for a fixed date range. (Example: 1st March 2047 to 30th July 2017)

    • When this option is selected, the banner is valid from a 'Start Date''Start Time' to a 'End Date''End Time'.
    • Select the 'Start Date' and 'End Date' from respective date pickers. Similarly, also select the 'Start Time' and 'End Time' from respective 'time pickers'.
  • 2. Weekly: Select this option when the banner is valid on specific weekdays during a defined date range. So, the banner will be repeatedly displayed on the specified weekdays within the defined date range.

    • When this option is selected, Weekly frequency section and weekdays will be additionally displayed.
    • Select the 'Start Date' and 'End Date' from respective date pickers. Similarly, also select the 'Start Time' and 'End Time' from respective 'time pickers'.
    • Select the required weekday(s) for displaying the banner during the specified date range from the Weekly frequency section.
  • 3. Month: Select this option when the banner is valid on specific days in a month during a defined date range. So, the banner will be repeatedly displayed on the specified days in every month within the defined date range.

    • When this option is selected, Starts On and Ends On drop-down will be additionally displayed.
    • Select the 'Start Date' and 'End Date' from respective date pickers. Similarly, also select the 'Start Time' and 'End Time' from respective 'time pickers'.
    • Select the day for starting the banner display (Example: 3, i.e. 3rd day of the month) from the Starts On drop-down.
    • Select the day for ending the banner display (Example: 25, i.e. 25th day of the month) from the Ends On drop-down.


Banner Settings:

  • Banner Type: Select a suitable banner type from the Banner Type drop-down. You have the following options: Image, HTML, and Video

  • 1. Image: If the banner is an image, select the banner type as Image. The following section will be opened:

    • To select the banner image, click the Select Image button of the File Name/URL. You will be displayed an Image Picker dialog box displaying the images of the userimages folder.

    • Double-click on a suitable image. The dialog box will be closed and the file name of the selected image will be displayed in the File Name/URL text box.
    • To select the thumbnail image for the banner (if required), click Select Image of Thumbnail Image. You will be displayed an Image Picker dialog box displaying the images of the userimages folder.

    • Double-click on a suitable image. The dialog box will be closed and the file name of the selected image will be displayed in the Thumbnail Image text box.
    • Enter the width of the image in the Width text box.
    • Enter the height of the image in the Height text box.
  • 2. HTML: If you want to define the HTML code for the banner, select the banner type as HTML. The following section will be opened:

    • To enter the required HTML code, click the Edit button of the Body text box. You will be displayed Short Description dialog box.

    • Click Source, and enter the HTML code in the corresponding text box and click update. The Short Description dialog box will be closed and you will be displayed the informative message through the following dialog box.

    • Click OK on the dialog box. The dialog box will be closed and the respective code will be fetched in the Body text box.
    • Enter the width of the image in the Width text box.
    • Enter the height of the image in the Height text box.
  • 3. Video: If you want to display a video through the banner, select the banner type as Video. The following section will be opened:

    • Select the type of video from the File name/URL drop-down. You have the following options - YouTube and Vimeo
    • Enter the respective file name/URL in the corresponding text box.
    • To select the thumbnail image for the banner (if required), click Select Image of Thumbnail Image. You will be displayed an Image Picker dialog box displaying the images of the userimages folder.

    • Double-click on a suitable image. The dialog box will be closed and the file name of the selected image will be displayed in the Thumbnail Image text box.
    • Enter the width of the video in the Width text box.
    • Enter the height of the video in the Height text box.
  • To navigate to the advanced options, click  Banner management icon in Add/Edit Banner page. The following section will be displayed.

  • You can associate the banner to ‘Brand, Category or Post Tag’.
    • 1. Brand: To associate the banner with a brand, select Brand from the Banner Associated to drop-down. You will be displayed a Select Brand text box.

      • Type the name of the brand slowly in the Select Brand text box. You will be displayed an autocomplete list of relevant brands that are matching your criteria.

      • Select a suitable brand from the autocompleted list.
    • 2. Post Tags: To associate the banner with a post tag, select Post tags from the Banner Associated to drop-down. You will be displayed a Post tags drop-down.

      • Select a required tag from the Post tags drop-down.
      • Note: You also have the facility to create new post tags here. To do so, click Add. You will be displayed an Add New Tag dialog box.

      • Enter the new tag name in the Tag Name text box and click Save. The dialog box will be closed and the new tag name will be listed under the Post tags drop-down.
    • 3. Category: To associate the banner with a category, select Category from the Banner Associated to drop-down. You will be displayed a Select Category text box.

      • To select a category, click Choose. You will be displayed a Select Category dialog box.

      • Select a required category and click Submit. The dialog box will be closed and the name of the selected category will be displayed in the Select Category text box.
  • Navigate to the Target Type section. Here you can define the what to display after clicking the banner and where to display it.

  • You have the following target types - Category, Brand, Page, Product, Product Tag, and URL.
    • a) Category: If you want to navigate the user to a specific Category page of your Web store, select Category from the Target Type drop-down. You will be displayed a Category ID text box.

      • Enter the category id of the respective category that your user to be navigated in the Category ID text box.
    • b) Brand: If you want to navigate the user to a specific Brand page of your Web store, select Brand from the Target Type drop-down. You will be displayed a Brand ID text box.

      • Enter the brand id of the respective brand that your user to be navigated in the Brand ID text box.
    • c) Page: If you want to navigate the user to a content page of your Web store, select Page from the Target Type drop-down. You will be displayed a Page drop-down.

      • All the Content pages of your Web store will be displayed here. Select a suitable page.
    • d) Product: If you want to navigate the user to a product of your Web store, select Product from the Target Type drop-down. You will be displayed a Product SKU text box.

      • Enter the SKU of the required product in the SKU/Product Title text box. In this case, after clicking the banner, the user will be navigated to the product details page of that product.
    • e) Product Tag: The is used by Mobile App users. If you want to navigate the user to the products of a product tag in the 'Mobile App', select Product Tag from the Target Type drop-down. You will be displayed a Product Tag drop-down.

      • Select the required product tag from the Product Tag drop-down. The respective products of the product tag will be displayed in the Mobile App through a special service in a dynamic page when the banner is clicked.
    • f) URL: If you want to navigate the user to any external or internal web page, select URL from the Target Type drop-down. You will be displayed a URL text box.

      • Enter the respective page URL in the URL text box. In this case, after clicking the banner, the user will be navigated to the respective page as mentioned by the URL.
  • Display Target: This option allows you to display the target page in the same tab or new tab.
    • To display the target page in the same tab, select the In same tab radio button.
    • To display the target page in a new tab, select the In new tab radio button.
  • To save the banner, click Save. The respective banner will be saved and you will be displayed a relevant success message.
